The fame of Carham's angling stream
Will only higher rise, While Scott can wield a salmon rod,
Or Carse can dress such flies. Tweed's been their glory, they her pride,
Then let her waters flow To the fame of their name,
While the gentle breezes blow.

SONG ON MAY MORNING.
Now the bright morning star, day's harbinger,
Comes dancing from the east, and brings with her
The flow'ry May, who from her green lap throws
The yellow cowslip and the pale primrose.
Hail, beauteous May ! that dost inspire
Mirth and youth and warm desire ;
Woods and groves are of thy dressing,
Hill and dale doth boast thy blessing.
The angler cheers thee with his lively song,
And welcomes thee to tarry long. |
